I am affirming for a proposal, but SP is distant and makes me feel like I am not his priority. What should I do?

I was in no contact with my specific person for 8 months. I wanted to manifest contact, and we are now in contact again. However, he still shows hot and cold behavior. Sometimes he is close to me, but at other times he becomes distant. He also tells me that I deserve someone better.
